Jerry Cook was raised in Worthington, MN and relocated to the Sioux Falls, SD area in 1998. His early works focused on the more traditional formats of painting and clay sculpture. Through his personal and artistic development, he sought to push the boundaries of his pieces. Years of experimentation lead to creating new and less limiting works allowing more freedom and unique visual appeal.
Cook’s abstract wall sculptures envelop you with a simple yet complex blend of organic, modern, rustic, industrial, polished, rugged, and flowing elements. Through careful selection of materials, textures, and contrasting finishes his work draws you into the overall composition while encouraging much deeper observation of fine details. His fascination with textures, finishes, water, and light allows his work to take on different appearance and meaning as they interact with light or are viewed from different angles.
