Dale Marie Muller

My love of animals runs deep since I was a kid. The authentic beauty,

innocence and spirit of an animal motivates me. Observation is the key

stage of my cognitive and creative process, appreciating a bear just being a bear or being present with a wolf sharing the warmth of the sun. Moments in nature that ignite my sense of wonder are often inspired by these personal experiences and evolve into drawings in the studio.

Not all stories need to be told in color. My narrative is best conveyed with the intricacy and expressive quality of graphite. I seek a harmonious balance between working in a realistic style that emphasizes my love of detail, accuracy of form and texture with a minimalist approach to composition that plays with linear shapes and symbols. I tend to gravitate toward unique gestures or perspectives, sometimes having the subject interacting with my line design. The uncluttered compositions and distinctive juxtaposition evoke curiosity, emotion and leave room for the viewer to intuit my meaning and apply their own.
